A British 50 pence coin, first introduced on the 14th of October 1969, in absolutely mint condition might be worth around £2.

The 50 Pence (50p) coin was introduced to replace the 10 shilling note. It is made from a cupro-nickel alloy, and is of a heptagonal shape. This means that is has seven sides. But the sides are not straight; they are curved, with the center of the radius for the edge being found on the pint between two curves, located on the opposite side of the coin. This shape is known as an equilaterally curved heptagon, and was designed to allow it to roll easier inside vending machines.

The 1969 50p coin was adjusted in 1997 to reduce its size and weight, and the old coin was removed from circulation as tangible currency on the 28th of September 1998. The back of the coin has since been redesigned since the new coin was put into circulation. In 2008, Matthew Dent won the right to redesign the reverse of the coin, which displays the bottom section of the Royal Shield.

It is rather laughable that a coin nowadays will fetch more money that its worth allocation, simply because of the antique value of the item. There are cases of people selling a standard one pound (£1) coin on internet bidding sites, such as eBay, and receiving more money for the coin than the actual value of the coin.

However, since we are not a valuation service, the actual value of the coin may be more or less than stated, based on the condition of it. A specified coin dealer and antique purveyor will obviously be able to give a more accurate valuation.

A British 1969 New Pence 50, uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to £2 GBP.

According to my research it may be worth, in a mint uncirculated condition around £2. This is what I have been quoted for mine. 150% increase is not bad! Should have been a £50 note though1 :o)
