What Is The Value Of A One Troy Ounce Silver Trade Unit .999 Fine Silver Coin Still In Good Condition?
That last guy has a book on numismatics and thinks he can find your silver round in it. What you have is an ounce of silver. It's value is based on the international market for silver at any moment. At auction or by advertising in this rising market you will get more than 'spot'. Today, 4/21/09 at $12.30 oz. Maybe 15 bucks. A dealer would give you about 10.Your silver round was made by (or for) A-mark Precious Metals, Inc. Probably in the mid '70's after we were stupidly removed from the gold and silver standard. It is a response and a callback to precious metals being the international standard for currency for thousands of years. As the value of the dollar (or any country's currency) crashes the cost of gold and silver will rise in direct proportion. Since your round is just silver with printing on it, date and condition aren't as important as weight and purity. They are collectible though, imho. I have a nice APM one with a big sailing ship on one side!
You need to be more specific. Ask the question again but include what is on both sides of the coin, the condition of the coin, but more importantly the date. If you include all of this (especially the date) then I will be able to appraise your coin.
