Actually you're wrong. "They", assuming you are referring to the U.S. Mint did NOT make the coins however, the coins were minted by a private mint.. It actually is a one dollar 1 ounce fine silver coin non transferable, Collectors are paying $40 to $50 for these coins. I have one myself that a lady used in a store I ran however, the bank couldnt accept it so I paid a dollar for it. I was thrilled because even the melt down value far surpasses that.

First of all, ''standing liberty coins'' are not silver dollars, they are quarters. Second even if he did have a standing liberty quarter,it wouldnt be worth $50. And thirdthey didnt make dollar coins let alone out of silver
