Sipadan is the only oceanic island in the country of Malaysia. It is located in the Celebes Sea near the east coast of Sabah, East Malaysia. If you are planning a visit and would like to know some prime places to do some serious scuba diving, read on and plan ahead and get ready for the adventure of your life.

  • Pulau Island

The pinnacle of scuba diving in this part of the world. The list of things to see is long with sites such as Barracuda Point, where you can run into schools of barracudas so large they may block out the sun. At South Point, you'll find plenty of beautiful reef sharks, and large schools of bumphead parrot fish. This was one of the favorite diving destinations in the world for the famed Jacques Cousteau, and once you visit, you'll understand why.

  • Layang Layang  Island Resort

Home to a three-star resort hotel, you can book a scuba tour through the hotel and spend the day watching hammerhead sharks frolic about in clear blue waters. A tour guide can help you out whether you are a seasoned pro or making your very first dive in the deep blue waters. The tours take place during the day and are very popular so you want to book your tour in advance. You can rent equipment at the hotel so don't worry about taking your diving gear with you, it very expensive in this day and age.

If you want to get the most out of your trip to Malaysia, do yourself a favor and go to diving school before you take off on your trip. A certified diving instructor will keep you safe while showing you the ropes of this fun and exciting activity that will open your eyes to the wonders of the ocean.
