1 Ounce = 31 grams.
But the gold is 22k means you have to multiply .916.
So the 22k Gold = 31* .916 grams pure gold.

You need to DIVIDE 31 by .91667, not multiply. You need MORE 22k gold to have an ounce of pure, not less. 31 x .91667 would mean you only need a total weight of 28.42 grams, less than the 31 needed with pure 24k gold, which doesn't make sense. Dividing 31 by .91667 gives you the total weight needed for an ounce of 22k gold to equal an ounce of 24k gold - approximately 33.82 ounces of 22k gold.

Both above answers are incorrect.
For some weird reason there are 31.1 grams by weight to One Ounce of Gold.
I say weird because there are 28 grams of almost everything else to One Ounce.
Troy ounces and Avoirdupois ounces.
Now, the next step is to realise that karats are a measure of Purity.
24K = 100% Au.
22K = 100% x 22 divided by 24 = 28.5 grams of Au for one ounce.

example: You  have a gold coin that is 22k and it weighs an ounce. That does not mean you have an ounce of gold. I know that sounds stupid but you have 2% of metal that is not gold in that ounce contributing to the weight that makes it an ounce cause its is not pure like 24k. So a typical ounce of pure gold is 33.etc grams...so at 22k estimated, you would have about 31.etc grams of gold.

31.x grams in one troy ounce of pure 24k gold - you need more than 31.x grams of 22k, as it is less pure. See above.
