The historical city of Lugano is in the furthest southern reaches of Switzerland, and so is warmer in climate than the more central alpine regions. The nearest ski resort is over 100km to the north, in Leontica.
Leontica is a small village, near the town of Biasca, close to the Amici del Nara ski resort. Here you will find 30km of ski slopes, a 5km sled run, a snowpark, and facilities for winter hiking, ski mountaineering and paragliding. There is also a ski and snowboard school, and sport equipment rental services.Check the Weather!
Of course you can't have skiing without snow, and a lot of the facilities at such resorts depend on the weather, so always check ahead if you are set upon skiing. At the time of weather, the Amici del Nara skiing facilities are closed due to lack of snow.
If you prefer to stay in Lugano, the town is home to the best mountain biking trails in Switzerland, and also hosts one of the country's most successful ice hockey teams.
