Agree that a photo would help.  Do you have any idea what part of the country it came from?  What area did you acquire it from?  Do you know if it is porcelain or stoneware?  What kind of glaze?  Will be glad to help if you can give more description.

Excellent advice nascar. I have a book of marks, but a picture would be so much help because some marks are similar, but from different potters.

Or you could take it to a second hand pottery shop or a collectors shop collectors often have books and know a lot about what they specialise in
