Prices and values of this card are liable to fluctuate from dealer to dealer due to market conditions.
• History
Michael Jordan became one of the most valuable players in the NBA basketball league. Around 1991, prior to his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2009, he was seen as one of the most successful and effective players ever to play in the sport, and certainly one of the most valuable. He is now a majority shareholder of the Charlotte Bobcats. He was renowned for his slam dunks, leaps and great defending, and is considered one of the greatest American athletes, rivaling Babe Ruth.
Magic Johnson made his name as a defender of some worth, hence the inclusion of Johnson on the card. He has famously managed to retire three times from the sport. As an HIV sufferer, he has won accolades for his stance on safe sex and HIV/AIDS prevention.
• Card Condition.
The card should subject to examination: Wear and tear or signs of excessive handling will result in the card's price being lowered. Water damage will have the same effect, as will creases and bend marks.
• Price Ranges.
Prices range from $29.99 to around $1.00. The upper limit presupposes superb or excellent condition, ideally mint or near mint. Some prices may be for the entire set of cards rather than the actual single Upper Deck card. No price mentioned here will be absolute; market conditions will make predicting a price a difficult task at best.
At the time, it was noted that the value of the card would rise as soon as Jordan was admitted into the Hall of Fame. Following this event, the idea does seem to have become true.
