The first answer is partially true. Alpha-amylase is produced and used in mammals, humans in the salivary glands. This enzyme that catalyzes starches into smaller carbohydrates. Also in the pancreas pancreatic amylase is also produced and used there. Finally Beta-Amylase is found in yeasts, molds, bacterias, and plants, especially in seeds.

That may be one way to spell some one's name. Or a person's name could be spelled Maya. Or if you are referring to the Indian civilization of southern Mexico they are Mayans, maya is also used in Hindu philosophy meaning illusion.
