Noticing the date of the question, this is old news, by now.
But...:
Dallas saw Murray's contract coming up for extension and upgrade, and realized that 1800 yard seasons are generally followed by significantly fewer yards.
With the best offensive line in the league, getting better, Dallas decided to add space to the salary cap, and plug in a cheaper option.
What could end up hurting the Cowboys more than losing Murray, is having to set their 'question-mark' defense against, when the play the Eagles; who may now have an upgraded running game, and siphon off Dallas' 'win' ranking.
...Not to mention a finally-gelled team, that many now have lost its gel.
