Roque basically is an American alternative of Croquet game. Roque was also an event held during the 1904 Summer Olympics in St Louis, Unites States. The American Roque League was established in the year 1916.
The game is played on a rolled sand court with stable anchored wickets. The mallets by which the ball is hit have a very short handle nearly twenty four inches and the edges of the mallet are faced with stone. The game is till date played in Chautauqua, Illinois. Roque, and chiefly the mallet used in the game, featured a great deal in Stephen King's novel The Shining.
